Q. How do I get started using TrueSwitch? A. After signing up for and installing BlueLight Internet, you will need to download and run the TrueSwitch installer. Follow the directions below: 1. Click the 'Download Now' button below to begin the download process. 2. When the 'File Download' window appears, select 'Save' and select a location such as your desktop to save the installer. 3. Double-click on the downloaded install file called "TrueInstallBlueLight Internet.exe": The installer will download updates to the TrueSwitch software. This may take up to a minute to complete. 4. The TrueSwitch Welcome screen will appear: You can select the "Express Switching" option (recommended) or "Custom Switching" (advanced users). 5. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation process. The TrueSwitch software will lead you through the process of copying your personal data (browser bookmarks, personal contacts and stored emails on your old ISP account), notifying your friends of your new BlueLight Internet email address and forwarding emails sent to your old ISP account to your new BlueLight Internet account. 6. TrueSwitch can also help you cancel your old ISP account, but you must select this option with either installation method above. If you need help at any time during the TrueSwitch install, press "F1" on your keyboard: this will activate the TrueSwitch Help Center, which can help you with common installation and usage questions and problems. You can also click on "Learn More" in the installer to activate the TrueSwitch Help Center. Q. What is TrueSwitch?A. TrueSwitch is a service designed to help ensure an easy and successful move to your new BlueLight Internet Platinum Internet account. TrueSwitch can copy most of your personal information (stored emails, address book, and favorites) into your BlueLight Internet account, notify everyone in your address book about your new email address, forward emails from your old email address, and help you cancel your old Internet account.* Q. Why do I need TrueSwitch? A. TrueSwitch makes switching to BlueLight Internet easy, simple and fast. Many users have felt trapped by their service provider because they have all their personal information stored on another service like AOL or MSN, their friends all know their email address, or simply because canceling the old account is such a hassle. Q. How does TrueSwitch work? A. The TrueSwitch service is built around two components: the TrueSwitch Wizard and an application hosted on the TrueSwitch web servers. The TrueSwitch Wizard is a small software program that you download to your computer after you have set up your BlueLight Internet account. When run, it can detect the Internet accounts installed on your computer. You select which account you wish to switch from and the BlueLight Internet account you wish to switch to, and the TrueSwitch Wizard will do the rest. The TrueSwitch Wizard communicates with the TrueSwitch servers to move your account information to your new BlueLight Internet Platinum account. These servers will log into your old account on your behalf to retrieve a copy of your personal information (including stored emails, your address book, and your favorites) and then copies that information to your BlueLight Internet account. Similarly, the TrueSwitch servers will continue to access your old account to forward any new emails that you may receive for up to 30 days. The TrueSwitch servers will also send your contacts an email with your new email address. Q. Will TrueSwitch work with my computer? What are the system requirements? A. The basic system requirements are: For best results, the TrueSwitch Wizard is designed to run on the same computer that you use to access your old Internet account. Please note: You will need to keep your old Internet account active for 30 days in order to use TrueSwitch email forwarding. Your other ISP may bill you again during this 30-day period if you choose email forwarding. AOL does offer a $4.95 per month Light Usage Plan that is sufficient for most users of email forwarding. Q. Does TrueSwitch support my Internet service provider? A. TrueSwitch currently supports switching to BlueLight Internet Platinum from AOL, CompuServe, EarthLink, MSN, SBC Yahoo, and AT&T plus many other Internet Service Providers who use Microsoft Outlook Express. Q. Will the TrueSwitch service copy all attachments and downloads I received through my emails from my old Internet account to my new account? A. The current version of TrueSwitch will transfer emails from your old account completely. However, in order to view any email that you have stored directly on your computer, you must access your email through Microsoft Outlook Express. How do I cancel (or downgrade) my old Internet account? A. You are responsible for canceling your old Internet account to avoid incurring any additional charges. If you selected the "Express Install" option with the TrueSwitch Wizard, we will email you in 21 days with the details on how to cancel your old account. Please remember that you need to keep your old account active so that TrueSwitch can continue to forward emails that arrive at your old account. Q. Can I have my email forwarded for longer than 30 days? A. TrueSwitch enables you to have your email forwarded for an additional 30 days beyond the initial period.
