How do I change my default Web browser?

You may use any browser that you like with BlueLight Internet (such as Netscape, Internet Explorer, or Opera), but you can only designate one default browser. If you would like to use a different browser, you will need to change the default browser setting.

A. If you want Internet Explorer as your default browser:

    Internet Explorer 7.x:

    1. Open Internet Explorer.
    2. From the Tools menu, select Internet Options.
    3. Select the Programs tab.
    4. Click Make Default button under Default web browser section to setup Internet Explorer as your default web browser.
    5. Check the box next to When Internet Explorer starts, prompt me if it's not the default web browser.
    6. Click OK.

    Internet Explorer 5.x or 6.x:

    1. Click on the Windows Start button, point to Settings and select Control Panel.
(Windows XP users: click on the Windows Start button and select Control Panel.)
    2. Double-click on the Internet Options icon and select the Programs tab.
    3. At the bottom of the window, check the box that says, Internet Explorer should check to see whether it is the default browser.
    4. Click Apply, then OK.

The next time you launch Internet Explorer, a window will appear asking you if you want to set it as your default browser. Click Yes.

B. If you want Netscape as your default browser, you have two options.

  1. The easiest option is to reinstall or upgrade Netscape. You can download the latest version of Netscape from www.netscape.com

    a. After installing Netscape, double-click on the Netscape icon on your desktop to open it.
    b. You will be asked if you would like to make Netscape the default browser.
    c. Click Yes.

  2. For advanced users, the following link will take you to a Web site with instructions to walk you through the process of making Netscape the default browser.
